H.E.L.P.S. is a Totally volunteer outreach effort and the given name is: Helping To Edify The Lord's People Through Service, commonly knows as H.E.L.P.S. Ministry Outreach. H.E.L.P.S. works with other social service agencies and area churches to accommodate the needs of individuals and families who would otherwise have "fallen between the cracks" of state, Federal and other in-place agencies.
The main goal of The H.E.L.P.S. Ministry Outreach is self empowerment and self sufficiency of our fellow men. Our commission is that of stateside missionaries in that we offer ourselves in service. It's been the life's work of this organization for over a generation; as it strives to use gifts, talents and arearesources to benefit the less fortunate.
In the scriptures, one is reminded in Mark 16:15 where it says to "Preach the gospel to all creatures - this includes every living thing. Thus, we are HELPERS who extend our services through "What The Hands of H.E.L.P.S. Do?".·This is how H.E.L.P.S. Ministry Outreach, practices what it preaches.
One of H.E.L.P.S. main emphasis is to serve as an alternative for people seeking help when most other agencies and churches are unable to assist or one does not qualify for public assistance due to extenuating circumstances. We at H.E.L.P.S. believe even when all else fails, God is able to provide our every need.
Our mission focuses is on People in a Crisis, hunger relief, advocacy and the education of individuals who are under served, low income or under-informed by aiding them toward self empowerment. Our purpose is: "those whose gift is practical service, let him give himself to serving" (Romans 12:7). Our objective is to help people build skills for life.
H.E.L.P.S. was envisioned in 1980, in Quincy, Illinois, and is a 501C3 tax exempt Faith Based organization manned by a nine member Board of Directors. The Board members are pastors, ex-homeless persons, mothers, a chaplain, nurse, sport professional to business owners.
